SAN DIEGO — The construction industry law firm of Finch, Thornton & Baird, LLP is pleased to announce the admission of Kelly A. Floyd and Marlene C. Nowlin as Partners effective January 1, 2021.
Kelly Floyd is a litigator, business advocate, and negotiator who works with business owners, officers, and project management. His practice focuses on construction litigation and claims, business and commercial litigation, general business advising, and trademark registration and litigation. Clients include general contractors, subcontractors, construction managers, owner-developers, established businesses, and startups.
Mr. Floyd joined the firm in June 2011 as a summer associate. He returned as a lawyer in fall 2012 after receiving his juris doctor, cum laude, from the University of San Diego School of Law, where he was a member of the Law Review and the Order of the Coif. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in International Studies – Political Science from the University of California, San Diego.
Marlene Nowlin brings extensive experience to the representation of businesses and individuals in complex commercial, real estate, and construction litigation. Her practice includes defense of employers against wage and hour class actions and PAGA claims, as well as in wrongful termination, discrimination, sexual harassment, and other employment-related litigation in state and federal court, arbitration, and before various governmental agencies. Clients also routinely turn to her for defense of citations brought by Cal/OSHA and federal OSHA and for workplace health and safety documentation.
Ms. Nowlin received her juris doctor from the University of California, Los Angeles; and earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Accounting from California State University, Los Angeles, from which she graduated cum laude.
