Recent changes to California law have added new anti-harassment training requirements for almost all employees in the state.
CALIFORNIA EMPLOYERS WITH FIVE OR MORE EMPLOYEES ARE NOW REQUIRED TO PROVIDE ANTI-HARASSMENT TRAINING.
Prior to the recent changes, only employers with 50 or more employees were required to provide two hours of anti-harassment training to their supervisory employees every two years.
Now, all employers with five or more employees must provide this training.
BOTH SUPERVISORY AND NON-SUPERVISORY EMPLOYEES MUST BE TRAINED EVERY TWO YEARS
- Under the new law, all non-supervisory employees must also be provided anti-harassment training, but the time requirement is only one hour for non-supervisors.
- All supervisory employees must still be provided at least two hours of anti-harassment training every two years.
- The Department of Fair Employment and Housing stated it would provide online training materials by late 2019, but they are not available yet.
THE NEW DEADLINE:
- The deadline to comply with the new requirements for non-supervisory employees is January 1, 2021.
