Attorney

Aided by an acute ability to listen and learn — and a penchant for asking perceptive questions — Rishi has proven himself to be a quick study of the challenges facing our construction industry clients.

Rishi S. Bhatt practices in the areas of business and commercial litigation, real estate, and construction law, including federal procurement, bid protests, and construction contracts.  Clients include general business owners, real estate owners, commercial development teams, and landlords and tenants, as well as federal and local contractors and subcontractors.  Additionally, Rishi represents corporate clients in licensing, business agreements, and commercial transaction matters.

Ever passionate about resolving client problems, Rishi takes the time necessary to thoroughly understand their business and legal challenges.  An innate curiosity drives his methodical analysis of legal, judicial, and administrative precedents.  It can be rigorous work.  But it is essential to informing the creative thought process required to shape legal strategies that are most favorable to our clients.

BUSINESS AND COMMERCIAL LITIGATION

Rishi works with business owners, executives, and entrepreneurs across industries as varied as cannabis, real estate, and construction.  He thrives on the diversity of our clients’ legal and business challenges: the partitioning of a tenancy-in-common agreement between two co-tenants; a contentious dispute between landlord and tenant; an ambitious entrepreneur in San Diego’s competitive cannabis market in need of a conditional use permit.  Rishi consistently embraces every problem that comes his way.  He provides litigation experience in federal and state courts at both the trial and appellate levels.

CONSTRUCTION LAW FAST BECOMING A FOCUS

Aided by an acute ability to listen and learn — and a penchant for asking perceptive questions — Rishi has proven himself to be a quick study of the challenges facing our construction industry clients.  From representing a growing government contractor unfairly denied a sizable federal contract to defending another facing possible fraud charges and civil liability under the False Claims Act, Rishi is tactful, but unabashed, in his handling of matters against the U.S. Government in federal courts and administrative agencies.  He has readily embraced Finch, Thornton & Baird, LLP’s aggressive approach to client representation with positive outcomes.
