Congress has voted to repeal the Department of Labor’s so-called “blacklisting rule” for federal contractors. The rule is part of President Obama’s 2014 Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces Executive Order, and required federal contractors to disclose labor violations committed or alleged in the last three years when bidding on federal contracts over $500,000.
January 26, 2017: California Enacts Another Claim Process for Public Works Construction
For contractors working on a public works project, the Legislature has added Section 9204 to the Public Contract Code, which applies to contracts entered into on or after January 1, 2017
Commencing January 2017, employers in San Diego may be subject to three separate paid sick leave laws: (1) the City of San Diego Paid Sick Leave and Minimum Wage Ordinance effective July 2016; (2) Executive Order 13706 which is applicable to federal contractors and takes effect January 2017; and (3) California’s Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act.
