FINCH, THORNTON & BAIRD, LLP PROMOTES TWO TO PARTNERSHIP

 

SAN DIEGO — The San Diego-based construction industry law firm of Finch, Thornton & Baird, LLP is pleased to announce the admission of Andrea L. Petray and Dustin R. Jones as partners of the firm effective January 1, 2015. Founded in 1987, the firm represents prominent public works and commercial contractors in all their legal matters.

Andrea L. Petray practices in the areas of construction law, real estate, and business/commercial litigation. She represents clients in public and private works disputes, subcontractor default issues, commercial sales and other business litigation, and land use and planning/development issues. Petray has been with the firm since earning her juris doctor from the University of California Los Angeles School of Law. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California at Davis. The San Diego Daily Transcript has recognized her as a Top 10 San Diego Construction and Real Estate Law Attorney. Petray is also active in the fight against cystic fibrosis, and has been recognized by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation with its “Women Who Take Our Breath Away” award. The purpose of the award is to “honor women who have distinguished themselves in the CF community,” in recognition of their strength, courage, energy, and/or inspirational endeavors to improve the lives of those with CF.”

Dustin R. Jones practices in the areas of construction law, government contracts, False Claims Act defense, government relations and business/commercial litigation. He has represented clients in large-scale construction disputes involving the San Diego Trolley, the City and County of San Francisco, Los Angeles METRO, San Diego International Airport, Caltrans freeway and bridge projects, and school, hospital and military construction throughout the state. He has been with the firm since being accepted into the firm’s summer program as a law student at the University of San Diego. He graduated law school magna cum laude and a member of the Order of the Coif. Jones earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Legal Studies from the University of California, Berkeley. Also active in politics, Jones serves on the Board of Directors and Judicial Candidate Endorsement Committee of the Lincoln Club of San Diego County, and was part of the successful campaign to elect Chris Cate to the San Diego City Council. Jones is also active in the Associated General Contractors, where he has authored legislation affecting the construction industry and served on the Public Building Liaison, Trends in Technology and Event Communities.
